The Chunky ZigZag basket is a round basket crocheted using the overlay mosaic technique. With this method, you crochet each round with a different color. To create the mosaic pattern, you work double crochets in the front loops of the underlying rounds. Because these stitches lay on the work, this method is called overlay crocheting.
After crocheting the base, the basket is worked upwards in the round, allowing you to easily change colors with each round and avoiding a large number of yarn tails that need to be woven in.
The basket is crocheted using the sturdy Hobbii Friends Ribbon, a super bulky yarn made of 100% cotton with the structure of flat tape yarn. I used 1 x Turkish Blue (88), 1 x Light Gray (117), and 1 x Open Sea (79) along with a 5.5 mm crochet hook.
The basket I crocheted has a diameter of approximately 20 cm and is approximately 16 cm high.
