I grew up on Churchill Avenue in Sioux Falls, SD and it was widely known that at Christmas time you could drive around to various neighborhoods to see the immense decorations on Lollipop Lane, Santa Clause Curve, Reindeer Lane and the Churches on Churchill. In the early 1980s, my father organized a large group of neighborhood men to build replicas of a church he grew up near in Long Lake, South Dakota. 50 years later, on beautiful snowy nights in Sioux Falls people still pack up the car, make hot chocolate, dim their car lights, crack their windows, and drive very slowly up Churchill Avenue to see the spectacle and listen to the soft carols being played on a speaker in the snow.
