Cosy Christmas Blanket

This blanket pattern is a lovely straightforward make as the only stitches used for the main body are dc and chain (UK terms), which, when worked as to the pattern, form Moss stitch, a beautifully textured stitch that gives a gorgeous finish to the completed blanket.

The blanket is edged with a colourful border of checks and scallops and to finish, each of the separately made presents and holly leaves are stitched on in a random pattern.

I used PAINTBOX Wool mix aran for the main part of the blanket but any Aran/Worsted weight yarn could be used. The border is worked in a combination of Aran and DK weight yarn and the presents and holly leaves are also worked in a DK weight yarn.

A little bit of Christmas sparkle is added in with the holly leaves and berries using Anchor Metallic thread.

The finished blanket measures approx. W 100cm x H 120cm.
