This pattern is for any weight yarn! Custom Tritops is a pattern set for any-gauge, custom fitting hats - you choose yarn, brim width, style, and one of three different tri-themed top decrease designs, each with a garter stitch element, tying it together with the sideways garter stitch brim!
With all the customization options, and the any-gauge versatility, this is a limitless pattern set! Once you get the hang of how the construction and custom fitting works, you'll want to make tritop after tritop, trying out all the different possibilities!
The brim is made using a sideways edge cast-on ([which I blogged about here][2]), ideal construction for a custom-fit any-gauge hat. It's simple once you try it out, using increases and basic short rows to leave stitches along the side of the garter stitch brim, avoiding any later picking up of stitches or seaming. A provisional cast-on and grafting are used on the brim seam for a seamless edge.
