This straightforward sock is a good introduction to knitting your first socks with turned heels.
"I designed this sock pattern for DT Craft & Design Hand-dyed 60% fine alpaca /25% wool / 15% nylon DK sock yarn (photographed here in shade Ocean Spray) as it makes makes lovely, comfortable socks . The alpaca /wool / nylon yarn is so ultra-soft and extremely warm you would be forgiven for thinking it might not be hardwearing. However, alpaca is a surprisingly strong fibre and the inclusion of a touch of nylon in the blend gives added strength and wearability. If you are looking for an alternative yarn, the pattern will work just as well with any DK yarn with a good twist such as West Yorkshire Spinners Aire Valley DK".
