Diamond Hat by LizzyLou is a great pattern for learning to knit stranded style, in the round with 2 colours. Choose between a double rib or a long folded rib.
Size: One size, to fit a medium adults head of 59 - 61cm/23 - 24 inches circumference.
Yarn: 3 balls of yarn - 2 of the main colour and 1 x white. 8 ply/DK/light, 50gm balls of merino wool. Diamond Hat is knitted using Debbie Bliss Rialto DK, colour apple & white. You can also use any other wool of the same guage. Length of yarn is 103 metres/112 yards per ball.
Suggested Needles: 3.25mm/US 3 DPNs, OR 3.25mm/US 3 circular needle for casting on & knitting rib. 4mm/US 6 circular needle for hat body. 4mm/US 6 DPNs for shaping the crown.
Techniques: Knitting in the round, knit & purl stitches, decreasing, catching floats, weaving.
