The beret is worked bottom-up in the round. The band is in garter stitch and the body a lace repeat with decreases to produced a "star". Blocking is required. As a final touch, add a crocheted stem for a traditional beret - or pompom for a tam.
This multi-generational pattern is written for 3 sizes with varying depth options for fingering, DK and worsted weight yarns, resulting in 7 finished sizes from newborn to adult. Charted with written instructions.
Great for using up leftover yarn! Fingering-weight yarn - smallest sizes (1 50-g ball); dk - medium sizes (up to 1 100-g ball); worsted weight - largest sizes (up to 2 50-g balls). Select needle size by weight.
