As a knitter, I think the best projects are the ones that look super-complicated and impress non-knitters but which are actually super-easy to do. For this pattern, I wanted to explore alternating twisted rib with diagonal mesh… and when I swatched the simple two-row repeat, I was astounded at how it turned out. The intuitive pattern created fascinating swirls that were a cinch to transition into a spiraling crown. As such, I consider this hat the crown jewel of my 2020 hat designs!
