US Terminology Used Throughout

Ewelie is worked from the top down with worsted weight yarn held doubled. The tweedy effect in the bordered brim is created by holding together 1 strand each of the MC and the CC yarns. Extended stitches are used for a fabric that is slightly more flexible than standard single and double crochet. Add a flower or button adornment for a finishing touch. Instructions for the Wee Flower are included.

These expanded instructions incl optional mod for a flared brim and full instructions for a single-strand worsted weight version with a MC crown and a solid (not tweedy) CC brim.

Hooks: I (5.5 mm) & K (6.5 mm*)***

Gauge: 11 sts x 6 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in extended double crochet with a size I (5.5 mm) hook and yarn held doubled

Worsted Weight Version

Gauge:15.5 sts x 8 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in extended double crochet with a size G (4.0 mm) hook

Hooks: G (4.0 mm) & I (5.5 mm)
