As a zoo volunteer I love to knit hats featuring our amazing animals. This adult size pattern includes 2 flamingo hats, Flamingo Parade and Facing Flamingos. Flamingo Parade has 5 flamingo encircling the hat. Facing Flamingos has 2 lovebirds facing each other at the front, back ot both.
I used Red Heart Super Saver® for the samples, though any worsted weight yarn can be substituted. You will need one or two background colors, plus small amounts of two pinks, white, black and tan for each flamingo. The finished circumference is about 20" and fits a woman’s head up to 22"-23".
IMPORTANT: This pattern requires a knowledge of duplicate stitch to embroider the flamingos. Duplicate stitch provides a rich depth which I love. (Fair Isle and Intarsia will not work because the charts include half stitches.) The detailed pattern has large and complete flamingo charts, including stitching paths to follow for the embroidery

- You will need a 16" circular needle plus double pointed needles, or a Magic Loop needle, for the hat. I used a pompom maker for the pompoms.
