Folia Shawl

Folia is an elegant shawl worked sideways, with 3 colors of light fingering weight yarn. It is made of garter stitch paired with a lovely lace pattern that is worked in bands, adding delicate leaves on the shawl. When the shawl is completed, stitches are picked up along the bottom edge to create a border that is embellished by a picot bind off.

Pattern is adaptable in number of colors and in size. Gauge isn’t crucial and can vary, but the final size and yardage will vary too. I recommend using lightweight yarn, from lace to sport weight.

The prototype was made using 3 colors of Qing Fjord Lambswool (light fingering weight): Color A (Snow): 344 yds (315 m) Color B (Crocodile): 130 yds (119 m) Color C (Charcoal): 138 yds (126 m)

Difficulty: intermediate Basic stitches, lace stitches, reading a chart (transcription is provided), picking up stitches (guidelines are provided).
