This would be great using cotton or cotton blend. I made mine using acrylic yarn because I'm trying to use up stash yarn.

Approx one half of the skein craftsmart value yarn, 354 yards, 7 oz, 324m, 198g, 100% acrylic, machine wash cold gentle, tumble dry low or hand wash *US H-8/5.00 mm
Stitches you will need to know *Magic circle *Half double crochet= HDC *SC
Tips and thoughts
An adult size hat measures 6 3/4" across the circle before you stop increasing.
Gauge= why bother? I think hats are sometimes difficult for some people too make. Even if you use the exact yarn and the exact hook size we all crochet a little differently, our tension is different. So yes, too be able to make a successful hat and have it fit, please do a gauge Swatch.
