Gnelfy and his sister Gnevie are nisses or tomtes or to me gnomes.
When worked in Aran/Worsted Weight they measure 13 inches/33cms from top to toe (not including hats); when worked in Double Knit/Light Worsted Weight they measure 11 inches/28cms (not including hats).
Any yarn works, but keep it all the same weight for each gnome. Suggested yarn for Gnevie’s hair would be a faux fur, King Cole Luxury Fur or James C Brett Faux Fur work very well. Eyelash yarn for Gnelfy’s beard works really well. I used Schachenmayr Brazilia.
Gnelfy and Gnevie are knitted flat,and assembled, full directions with photos are included in this pattern. They are knitted from their boots to the top of their heads in one piece, arms and outfits are knitted separately. I used mattress stitch throughout.
