I have always loved gansey sweaters and I wanted to create a large shawl that shared some of the same textures/design features. Though it is a larger project, the individual sections go rather quickly.
This is a predominantly charted pattern and features a knitted-on edging.
Though the pattern calls for varying shades of yarn, you could easily use one color throughout.
This is one of my favorite projects to date and I use it daily in the colder months. It's like wrapping yourself in a woolly hug :)
