Kid Cold Vest

This vest is just like dad's (or mom's) [Man Cold Vest][1]! Kid Cold is knit from the top down in one piece. The shoulders are shaped with increases that are left and right leaning to give the seam a very neat look. After the shoulders, the front and back sections are knit separately down to the underarms. Thereafter the body is worked in the round. You may decide whether to use a contrast color for the ribbing after you have knit the body of the vest, since the neck and armhole ribbing are added after the body has been completed. The twisted cable stitch keeps you busy as you work the body and gives the vest a interesting touch on both the front and back.

Gauge - 20 stitches x 28 rows = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size US 7 (4.5 mm) needles (or size needed to get gauge). Achieving both stitch and row gauges are important for this pattern, because the cable patterns are made to line up when you join at the chest.
