This is a bright, simple geometric square based on the octagonal motif in my pattern "Painting with Light". It lends itself to infinite colour combinations but for a true stained glass effect the 'lead' rounds should contrast strongly with the colours chosen for the 'glass' panels.
The square shown was worked in DK weight yarn with a 4.5 mm hook, and measures 5" x 5". Once the stitch counts and colour placements are understood it could of course be extended to any size.
