Evoking memories of those gluey candies that all children wanted to have.
The Lollipop Hat is worked in rounds from the bottom to the top in a fingering sock yarn. The stitch pattern creates a ruched effect and makes it a very stretchy hat to fit many heads. It is a lightweight hat for spring or fall.
The pattern is written and includes a small chart for the stitch pattern.
Difficulty level: intermediate (knitting in the round on DPNs or circular needles, increases, decreases, double decreases)
Yarn: Regia 4-ply (75% wool, 25% nylon; 210m/50g; 230yds/7.76oz), 1-2 balls. Sample in size medium used exactly 1 ball with nearly nothing remaining. The large size will use more than 1 ball.
Needles: 3mm/US 2 1/2 set of 5 DPNs or circular needles
Notions: yarn needle, stitch marker (optional)
Gauge: 27 stitches/40 rows in unstretched lollipop pattern = 10cm/4in.
