A few years ago I wanted to make socks as a wedding gift for a young couple. I used 7 brothers yarn (by Novita), which I think is the best Aran weight sock yarn out there. The socks are almost knee high and fit women size 6 and up foot. The leg and ankle are not for wide legs, though. The cuff and ankle have a cable pattern. I am also selling a similar pattern for men's socks.
