The word "Lumi" is Finnish for snow. Lumi is a large lacey crochet design, made in pieces, using three hexagonal snowflake motifs and smaller triangular shapes to form a chevron shaped shawl. The pattern is written in UK terms and shows the design in a two-colour option, but you can make it as colourful or muted as you like to extended its wearability beyond the holiday season (a one colour version would look extremey elegant). There are no hard techniques in this shawl design, just lots of different lengths of stitches and chains. To make your shawl a success, you should definitely block your work to bring out the best of the lace. Enjoy!
