The inspiration for this pattern came from a sophisticated looking lady in red I spotted while walking down Main Street in Huntington Beach one day. Her bold, red, chunky lace capelet set her apart from the rest of Downtown Huntington. I spent many hours designing my own pattern using my favorite stitch, so I too could be a sophisticated lady in red.

This garment is knit flat from the top down and edged with garter stitch button bands. Simple yarn over increases shape the shoulders and build up to the traditional Old Shale stitch (often confused with the Feather and Fan stitch). A bulky weight yarn with good stitch definition will make the pattern stand out. And finishing with some bold chunky buttons will add some extra wow!
