Metamorphmagus Wrap

Transformations abound in the magical world of Harry Potter. Children become adults, students become teachers, wizards become animals—and even other wizards. For me, this theme is most apparent in the Goblet of Fire: from Barty Crouch Jr.’s transformation into Mad Eye Moody through means of the Polyjuice Potion, to Harry’s developing gills and webbed hands and feet for the second task, to Hermione’s metamorphosis from Plain Jane to Belle of the (Yule) Ball, nothing is as it seems. It was the Yule Ball in particular that inspired this design: a little bit shawl, a little bit scarf, the perfect piece to pair with your favorite party dress. In the Metamorphmagus Wrap, I wanted to capture the spirit of transformation that shines through in the Hogwarts universe, as each of these distinct mini skeins winds its way into the next, creating a cohesive whole out of the disparate colors and stitch patterns.
