I designed this hat for giant panda lovers, incuding myself. It features a mom panda on front and her cub on back (or visa versa). The black and white colors of this unique bear create a striking contrast to almost any favorite color background.
The pattern features 4 hat sizes from Child 3-10 to L/XL Adult. Finished hat circumferences range from 18" to 21". The hats are simple knit watch caps in one or two colors, with separate written instructions for each size. I used Red Heart Super Saver® for my samples, though any similar worsted weight yarn will work.
IMPORTANT: The pattern assumes a knowledge of duplicate stitch (also called knit embroidery or Swiss darning) for the pandas. Duplicate stitch provides a rich depth which I Iove. Fair Isle and intarsia will not work because the charts include half stitches. The detailed pattern has large charts, including suggested paths to follow for the embroidery.
