My Hero

Moms need superhero capes! This is my modern take on a hero cape for moms. There is no manual for being a mom, I thought back to when my kids were little and how it is easy to be their hero. As they get older this can feel harder, teenagers can be prickly, but even when they don’t want to hug anymore, they still need to know that you are there. We need the strength to help them grow into adults with honourable characters; the space to let them learn, fall, get up and succeed. Every mom needs a cape to remind us of our important job

I love self-striping yarn, but it can be hard to use in a shawl, this inspired me to use a skein of self-striping yarn with a complementary colour and knit them sideways to make this lovely shawl. The simple eyelet lace is added on afterwards. You can use variegated, speckled or even solid colours to make your stripes.
