The original iteration of this blanket was created as a baptismal blanket for a baby who was baptized in our former church several years ago. The blanket construction begins in the center of the blanket and moves outward, just as a new baby is born as the center of his/her own universe and, growing, moves outward into the world at large. The name is in honor of all the Nanas, Grandmas, Grannies, Gigis, Yayas, Ammas, and all of the biological or surrogate grandparents who love to create warm snuggly blankets for their beloved grandchildren.
