Those little nails on a newborn grow so fast and sharp. It's so easy for them to scratch their face and neck since they don't really have control of their hands yet. These thumbless mittens stay snug on their hands to protect wee one's from their own little nails and making it look cute in the meantime! The ribbing section was intentionally created long to ensure the mitts stay on those always moving tiny hands.
