Produktdetails
Many years ago my mum bought a commercially made jacket when in Norway on holiday. She asked if I could make her something similar but different using Scottish yarn, and this is the result. The body of the jacket is bordered by a traditional “snowflake” motif with a background of small crosses. The snowflake is repeated around the top of the dropped sleeves and a contrasting border at the cuffs, hem, collar and front bands also appears as a saddle on the shoulders. The edge to edge front bands are fastened with traditional Scandinavian style clasp fasteners. The garment is knitted in the round with steeks for the front and armholes, and the sleeves are picked up and knitted downwards. Optional afterthought pockets are added. The pattern is described in four sizes. My mum is wearing the second size with plenty of positive ease.
The original is knitted in Alice Starmore Hebridean 3-ply but it would work with heavy DK, worsted or light aran yarn
