The hat is worked inside out so the textural pattern created by the K2tog decreases is revealed when the hat is turned right side out. Because of this all yarn ends and joins should be kept on the outside of the hat, the side nearest the knitter, while working. Where the pattern only gives one set of directions, this applies to all sizes.
