Ollaberry Beanie

My Ollaberry Beanie is my first release in a series of hat patterns all inspired by the flora, fauna, life and countryside in and around Northmavine in Shetland. A place I’m proud to call home! The Ollaberry Beanie was inspired by the changing colours we see every day when we take our dogs down to the beach here – the differing shades of the sea and sky depending on the weather, the seaweed and sand, and the rocks and lichens. The beanie starts with a corrugated rib and is worked entirely in the round with a pattern based on traditional Fairisle motifs. It is has been designed to pull down low over your ears to protect them from the biting North winds! Otherwise it can be worn further back on your head as a slouchy style beanie.
