Premature Baby Ribbed Cardi and Hat

This sweet little knitting pattern is for a tiny premature baby knit, just 10 inch chest, using wonderfully soft 4ply (UK) knitting yarn. I created it because I wanted to make tiny baby clothes that were a more natural fit for premature babies. Since this cardi and hat are for such a tiny little premature baby, the sleeves have been made specially to enable the baby to be dressed as easily as possible, the wide sleeves close over with a button to the cuff. The back and fronts are knitted in one piece to minimise uncomfortable seams, and the cardi closes with 3 small buttons on the cute little button band. The hat repeats the ribbed detailing of the cardi, which enables it to stretch to fit snuggly, and has 3 garter stitch columns similar to the cardi button bands.
