My rainy day throw was imagined and designed over a very lazy Christmas holiday spent lounging on the couch, fire on, TV on, chocolate, wine, no visitors, no distractions; just lots of time to do lots of crochet!! I wanted to make a smallish throw for snuggling up in front of the TV, or for when I’m crocheting on the couch (with, or without the TV on!) and just need something to pop over my knees or round my shoulders.
I tried to use up a lot of the yarns I happened to have, but bought a few new ones along the way. Colour was more important than sticking to the same weight, so if the finer yarns were too fine I just used two strands or plied them with another fine yarn to create new colours and stripey effects! I also got away with some lighter Aran weights!
Only basic skills are required including forming magic rings, SC, HDC and puffs (US Crochet Terms) and the Zipper joining method; the tutorial gives full instructions as well as lots of images and tips.

- I haven’t given quantities because it takes what it takes to make the throw and the amount of yarn you’ll need will depend on what size you’re making!
