These slippers were the family favorite for over 50 years. My mom and grandma would knit like crazy to get enough done for all of us by Christmas. We had hardwood floors back then and as kids we would take a running start and slide down the hallway. It was fun and one of my favorite memories of these slippers. Since then, we still knit to keep everyone in the family in a supply of slippers, and someone is always glad for a new pair. They are warm, fluffy, comfortable and if they get a little flat or dirty, wash up fine and spongy when they come out of the dryer. The checker board pattern makes these unique slippers fun to wear too. Once you start knitting you will have a tribe of slipper fans that will love these too.
