Whether you dress it up or down, this is the perfect top for summer, or dressing up an outfit for holidays at any time of the year. With extended shoulders, the lace pattern drapes over the top of the arms for a feminine touch. Work the body in the round in stockinette with waist shaping for a flattering fit, beginning with a narrow ribbed hem. Before reaching the armholes, begin working the lace pattern at the center of the front only, deceasing stitches each time a new repeat of the lace pattern is added to compensate for the change in gauge.
The shoulders are joined using Three-Needle Bind-Off, then the stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armholes so the sleeves can be worked in the round to the cuff. The neck is edged simply by the stockinette bind-off; to make sure the front neck is smooth, once the initial bind-off at the center has been worked, slip the first stitch of each subsequent bind-off row, then tighten it slightly.
