Santa’s Cloth is an easy knit in garter stitch for quick Christmas presents, a hostess gift or napkins for the Christmas table. The dish cloth or napkin has the shape of the traditional Norwegian “nisselue» - a red stocking cap. After the rib “brim”, the hat shape is made by increases and decreases, finished by a crochet loop or a small pom pom. If substituting with a yarn of a different gauge, cast on less/extra stitches in multiples of 2 stitches. Gauge in garter stitch after blocking: 22 sts per 10 cm.
Sizes: Height (app.) / width (app.) Small: 32 cm / 19 cm. Medium: 34 cm / 23 cm. Large: 36 cm / 27 cm.
Yarn: Pt Pelini (50/50 % cotton/linen), 1 ball of 50 g (1,76oz), 102 m (112 yds) or yarn with the same gauge (20-22 sts over 10 cm/4”). Colourway 0259. Other yarn suggestions: Drops Muskat, Sandnes Mandarin Naturell, Patons 100% Cotton DK, Rowan Denim, Rowan Summerlite DK, Stylecraft Cotton DK.

- Long straight needles can be used in stead of the circular needle. A crochet hook is needed if you want to finish the hat with a loop.
