September is the month that sees the start of the new school year. The time when we all buy new school shoes and stock up with stationery.
This September is a special one for our daughter, as she begins the final year of wearing her school uniform. I felt that I should mark this event by knitting her a pair of socks to wear to school.
My own memories of school socks were of knee length white socks, always with some kind of lace pattern on. I wanted to have a nod to that vintage design in my own socks.
The School House Socks feature a pretty lace pattern around the top of the leg, and a little hint of that lace before the toe.
The pattern is both written and charted, and is worked using the magic loop method. You can of course use your preferred method to knit them. The socks are worked top down with a heel flap and gusset and my Umbrella Toe.
I used a skein of Eden Cottage Yarns, Rosedale 4ply in the shade 'Charcoal'.
