The Shallow Tide shawl is a one-skein, asymmetric shawl that uses texture to create ruched waves by combining stripes of classic stockinette and reverse stockinette. In addition, yarnover increases play with decreases to pull the stitches in different directions to add an extra splash of interest to the pattern. The result is a simple, classic shawl that would work equally as well in a highly-variegated yarn as it would in a solid colour. And when it comes to cast off your shawl, a pretty picot bind-off completes the final ripple. A video tutorial is linked on page 4 for how to work the bind-off.
This shawl would be a good project for an adventurous beginner, while more experienced knitters will find it a relaxing yet engaging project.
