Slip stitches form a checked brim and also perform a neat little trick to make smooth garter stripes on the rest of the hat, without a super obvious seam up the back. Working with only one color at a time makes this an easy knit too.
This pattern is appropriate for for knitters who are comfortable knitting in the round on circular needles and double point needles. The hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. The pattern is 2 pages long and has been test knit and professionally tech edited to be clear and free of errors.
Gauge is: 21 sts and 38 rnds/ 4 in/ 10 cm in slipped checks st pattern AND 20 sts and 40 rnds/ 4 in/ 10 cm over garter stitch in the rnd.
