Smokestack is a lacy “faux cable” beanie or slouch hat that coordinates with the Fingerless Mitts and Cowls in the Smokestack Collection. The mirror-image lace “cables” are reminiscent of smoke plumes wafting from a chimneystack on a chilly winter’s day. With two crown options, the easy-to-memorize lace pattern flows from a ribbed brim and works up quickly - using less than one skein of DK or Worsted yarn - and no cable needle required!
Instructions are both written and charted. Worked seamlessly in the round from the brim up, this is ideal for lace newbies or advanced knitters.
FINISHED SIZE - Stretches easily to fit teens/adults from 18-22”/45-56 cm Beanie - 9”/23 cm length Slouch - 10”/25.5 cm length
MATERIALS Approximately 135 (175) yards of Worsted or DK weight yarn for Beanie (Slouch) style.
GAUGE 22 /28 rows = 4”/10 cm in st st using larger needles (if using BT Shelter yarn - see note re gauge below)
