Striped Hat With Pompom

Olivia wanted a striped hat with a pompom to match her striped shirt.

Olivia's hat was knit in the round. Bound off using the Kitchener stitch. A link to my video tutorial on the Kitchener Stitch is provided in the pattern.

I use a smaller needle for the top of the hat simply because it uses less yarn, this helps avoid the bulky top you can get with a ribbed hat. The hat is a bit flatter at the top and a better fit I believe.

This is the perfect unisex hat for your toddler or small child. Using different colors of yarn you can knit this hat for a boy or a girl. Any color combination would work. Choose the child’s favorite color and you will be a hit.

For Olivia's hat, I used LOOPS & THREADS/Luxury Wool but any worsted weight yarn will work fine. I have also worked up this hat using Lion Brand Pound Of Love. Colors: Bubble Gum, White, and Turquoise. Also, Lion Brand Vanna's Choice has a lot of great colors to choose from.
