I'm always trying to think of ways to knit up those crazy beautiful hand-painted skeins of yarn. Garter stitch is usually a good option, and the addition of a diagonal line of double wrapped stitches worked into knots adds to the fun. No purling required - the cowl is worked in rows but the rows are connected at the ends so that you have a circular object with no seaming.
