Stylish shaping and patterning on this vest is reminiscent of a gentleman’s tailored waistcoat. Intarsia shapes on the front echo the striping created with self-patterning yarn on the back. Applied I-cord on all the edges provides the finishing touch for this waistcoat.
Any self-patterning sock yarn or even hand-painted yarn that will give you gauge will work. This vest would also be fun knit with many remnants of solid yarns from your stash.
Gauge: 30 sts and 42 rows to 4” [10 cm] over stocking stitch using 3 mm needles.
Techniques: Increases/decreases, applied i-cord, familiarity with picking up stitches, seaming.
