Welcome to this beginner mosaic crochet pattern. If this is your first mosaic crochet pattern let me tell you that you have made a great choice. This is a quick and easy project for all ages that will give you a great taste of what can be achieved with mosaic crochet.

Mosaic crochet is a style of crochet that creates interesting colour patterns by working different colours of yarn down into previous rows to create a pattern. This is often preferred over tapestry crochet because you only work one colour per row, and you don’t have to deal with complicated switching of colours mid-row.

You can use any yarn you like for this pattern. And chose an appropriate hook size to suit the yarn. To create the Bobby square I have used a light fingering weight yarn, 100% cotton with a 3 mm hook.

You will need two contrasting coloured yarns for this pattern.
