Nowhere else in the United States can one see so much alpine country with such ease as at Rocky Mountain National Park. Trail Ridge Road winds into the heart of the park traversing a ridge above 11,000’ for 10 miles. I was so pleased to find a rock formation called “The Needles" while learning about this beautiful park. As knitters we love our needles so it made sense to name this sock “The Needles"!
The highest point at Lumpy Ridge is “The Needles", a series of three rocky fins on the west end. The eastern Needle is the tallest at 10,068'. The western Needle is 10,027' while the middle (connected to the summit of the Sundance Buttress) barely tops 10,000'. The color is inspired by “America the Beautiful". The purple mountain majesties are the Rocky Mountains indeed!
Knit from cuff to toe with deep ribbing for an optional fold over cuff, simple cable pattern, eye of partridge heel flap and Dutch heel these are very enjoyable to knit.
