Tunisian Mermaid Tail

I fell in love with Tunisian Crochet a few years ago, and have enjoyed creating various items with the style.

Yarn Used: Elle Chick Double Knit, Colour Vibrant, 100g, approx. 250m/275yds, 7 Skeins.

Guage: 18 Stitches and 10 Rows (10 x Forward Pass and Return Pass) = 10cm/4” in Slanted Stitch Pattern

Hooks Used:  Standard Tunisian Afghan Hook Size 7mm, Extended Tunisian Hook Size 7mm, Standard Crochet Hook 7mm

Finished Size:   Body:  94cm long excluding the fin

                           Width at the top:  90cm

                           Fin:  40 cm long

This blanket has a double layered fin which is sturdy and holds its shape much better than a single layer, it also creates an extra space inside the fin where the feet can go in creating quite a life like mermaid tail if the person using it wiggles their feet inside.  This blanket is large enough for an adult or teenager, but easily adjustable in size so for a small child by working less rows on the Main Body slanted stitch section.
