Two Medicine Hat

This is a quick knit bulky weight hat with a fun faux cable running up the front. Grab your favorite skein of bulky weight yarn and knit up this quick, super cozy hat.

You can wear the cable straight-on or off to the side, as pictured. Add a cute pom pom to top off this warm hat.

This motif was originally used in my Two Medicine Socks, and I was inspired to incorporate it into a hat as well. It is named for the Two Medicine Lake in Montana, which is named for the two medicine lodges on the creek that feeds the lake.

Gauge:

14 sts and 20 rnds = 4”/10 cm in st st in the round on larger needles

Materials:

70-106 yds Bulky weight yarn *(Sample uses Polka Dot Sheep Big Sky Bulky in ‘Kintla’.) US #9/5.5mm 16” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge US #7/4.5mm 16” circular needle, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle US #9/5.5mm DPNs (same as gauge needle) darning needle stitch marker 4” pom pom (optional)
