This was one of the first motifs I designed for the Spirit of Flora project. I love making flower motifs with layers of petals and leaves. William De Morgan designed quite a few ceramic pieces that featured a Tudor Rose, and many designers and artists of the Arts and Crafts Movement used thefl ower within their designs, especially as they believed in looking back to historic textiles and existing craftsmanship for their inspiration, believing that a simplified Tudor style was preferable to the fussiness of Victorian period design.
