Umami Hat

Umami is a Japanese word meaning “savoriness”, which is one of the five basic tastes, often considered as the most delicious of all. Umami Hat allows the knitter to come up with their own exquisite recipe. The pattern provides the basic ingredient: a clever lined hat pattern with 4 layers of brim, available in 7 sizes, from baby to adult large. Add to that your own favorite seasoning: a color palette that you like, the number of colors that you want (using scrap yarns is encouraged!), the perfect fiber to accommodate your tastes, the possible addition of a mohair strand on the outside part… With your own perfect ingredients, this reversible hat will quickly become your new go to hat to keep your head warm all winter long.

Notes This great stashbuster project can be made using several different colors. I recommend picking up to 10 different colors of a DK weight yarn, and only one color of mohair that will be used on the outside of the hat.
