Valentine Design Shawl Tablecloth or Blanket

This pattern is an adaptation of the Valentine design doily cheval set designed by Marianne Kinzel and published in her book, “First Book of Modern Lace”, published and permission for reprint usage courtesy of Dover Publications.

At first, I was satisfied to knit the doily size and gift it to my very, grateful friends. Then, as I worked the pattern and read more of Kinzel’s instructions, it became very clear that this lace beauty was destined to become larger. I hope that as you knit this project, you’ll realize the joys of knitting circular lace. Your finished Valentine Design will be of heirloom quality which will withstand the tests of time. Adaptation rounds are provided for size adjustment. The ability to make the project different sizes gives it tremendous capabilities. Can be finished with thirty(30), forty five(45) or seventy(70) hearts in the outer ring, making it suitable for any size tablecloth, shawl or blanket.
