Valorie Socks are worked from the toe up, but are knitted back and forth in rows between the toe and heel. After completing the toe in the round, half of the stitches are held to be worked later for the instep. First the sole, then the German short row heel are worked separately and flat. Upon completing the heel, stitches are placed on waste yarn to be worked later for the leg. The instep is then worked while joining to the sole at the same time. Then the held heel stitches are returned to the circular needle and the leg is worked in the round. For an elastic edge, the cuff is bound off using the beautiful Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off.
Gauge: 40 sts and 52 rnds/rows over Stocking st = 10 cm / 4”.
