Varde

The topic of the design is Danish North Sea coast. Harsh weather, sea salt air and sand beaches grown with grasses inspired me a lot. I wanted to create a shawl for some walks at the sea coast, that keeps you warm from the blowing North Sea wind. Or if you are not at the sea, reminds you of that beautiful and unique atmosphere. Seashells always remind me of the sea and the organic crescent shape for the shawl seemed to be a perfect one. After I found the knot stitch for the ribbing effect of the textured surface and filling the space between them with seed stitch sections, the design was born. I called it Varde after a commune in Denmark, where I once spent my North Sea coast holidays.
