This blanket is very special to me, because it’s the pattern I was knitting during the last month I had my Golden Retriever. He had been sick for a while and suddenly started to decline rapidly. We knew the time was short, and I wanted to sit with him as much as possible. He was accustomed to me knitting so it was normal, and it was comforting. I needed something easy so garter stitch was the obvious choice.
It took me a long time to actually get this blanket published after he crossed to the rainbow bridge. The actual project I made sat in a bin of other finished projects stored away in a closet along with my broken heart. But now that it’s been two years since Willie left my side in this life, I think it’s time to share this pattern with everyone
